While hosting is one of the easier things to find online today, the real benefit to hosting you site with me is realized when you also have me develop the site itself. When you do this, I'll handle some of the nitty-gritty steps like domain registration, making sure that the domain you want shows the site you want it to, and providing you with both email addresses at that domain and file transfer protocol (FTP) access. But, to be honest, working with just about any other hosting provider will get you these features as well.

The real benefit to you when you host your site with me is that I can configure the behind-the-scenes settings to match those that I'm most familiar with. That familiarity will help me work as effectively and efficiently as possible. This, hopefully, will translate into a short development process and get your site completed and online as soon as possible.

Currently, I work with A2 Hosting. If you don't want to host with me, I would strongly recommend that you look at their service before you run off to some of the larger hosting providers. Their shared hosting packages generally meet the needs of the average business or individual.

And, if at the end of the day you're going to buy your own server and set it up so it serves your site, that is mostly out of my understanding. I do have other colleagues and contacts that do provide support and information about server administration.
